Welcome, Parents and Guardians!
We're excited to share with you that the 5th and 6th graders have been participating in an engaging track and field unit for Physical Education over the past few weeks. The students have been working hard and practicing the different events that they will compete in at the upcoming 52nd Annual Gene LaRose District Elementary Track and Field Meet.
The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 23rd and Wednesday, May 24th at the beautiful Goerke Park. In the event of severe weather, the meet will be rescheduled for Friday, May 26th, 2023. This event marks the culmination of the elementary Physical Education Track and Field Unit, providing an excellent opportunity for students to experience team and individual competition.

What To Send With Your Student
We kindly request that students bring a sack lunch on both days. Gym clothes are mandatory, and we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. Wind pants and light jackets are perfect for sun and wind protection, while rain gear and umbrellas are a must for light showers. Don't forget the sunscreen and water to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. If a severe weather date is called, please check our website and local media outlets for updates.
Student Safety
To ensure the safety of all participants, we require students to wear shoes without spikes, such as baseball or track shoes. For students participating in the tug-of-victory event, gloves are required. Please note that no gum or other substances are allowed on the turf, and we kindly request that parents and athletes stay off the turf area unless directed for competition.
Parent Participation
For observing, taking pictures, and cheering on your child, please use the outside of the track fence, south end of the west bleachers, and open sections. Please move if you are blocking the view of the starter, camera, and workers. A tentative schedule of event can be found here. Prior meets have run ahead or behind by as much as 5-30 minutes.
