WELCOME

  • The staff at Washington Elementary welcomes you to our website. We hope that it will provide you with valuable information. Our staff is committed to providing the very best educational experiences possible for our students each and every day.

Washington Elementary has been a part of the Stevens Point community since 1963.  Washington welcomes approximately 460 students in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. Stevens Point Area Public School District 4 Year Old Kindergarten classrooms are located offsite at our community partnerships sites. We have both morning and afternoon sessions.

Each grade level, Kindergarten thru 6th grade, has a common block of time scheduled for literacy and math. Our teachers are committed to the whole student, incorporating important social and emotional instruction into the daily academic schedule.  In our day, we also have an identified block of intervention and enrichment time that allows us to provide additional support to students who may need work on a specific skill or provide enrichment activities to other students who are very secure in a particular skill.

Students in grades K-6 also receive instruction in art, music, physical education, and access to the library and ever growing collection of high interest books.  The school community also has access to our school social worker and psychologist as a part of our ongoing efforts to support a positive learning environment.   Each grade level has access to technology in the form of tables in Kindergarten through first grade and Chromebooks in grades two through six.   Each grade level classroom has access to an interactive whiteboard and other instructional technology, utilized by both students and staff.

Washington benefits from strong parental involvement and support.  Heading into our 18th annual Tiger Trek this May, this 5K once a part of our students service learning projects, the school community has continued this great tradition into the future.  Your involvement is vital to our students’ success! We invite and encourage you to be an active participant here at Washington through volunteering in our classrooms, joining the PTO and joining us for special events.

Thank you for being a part of our Washington “Nurturing, Learning, Community.”
