Technology & Engineering Education
The Ben Franklin Technology and Engineering focuses on a 6-step design process to be included in every project we do in 7th and 8th grade classes.
In the 9th grade classes, BFJH Tech and Engineering focus on larger projects that take weeks to complete. Here we look at the entire process and students get familiar with the process of how to complete the task, machine safety, a brief overview of a large concept and also a physical outcome of that project to take home.
7th Grade (1 Quarter long - 45 days) completes about 6 different projects. These projects include:
The Skimmer, Paper Rockets, Snap Circuits, An Egg Crash Car, personalizing a drawstring bag with Vinyl, and finally a Sailboat race.
8th Grade (1 Semester long - 90 days) completes about 6 different projects. These projects include:
What is Engineering unit, Straw rockets, CAD (Computer Aided Design) and 3-D printing, CO2 Dragster Vehicle, Construction unit building a scale model of home and more.
9th Grade (1 Semester long - 90 days) has various projects throughout the semester. The amount of projects varies by class do to how long the project takes to accomplish.
