Join the Elementary Orchestra Program – Your Child's Musical Journey Begins Here!
Is your 5th or 6th grader ready to explore the world of music? The Stevens Point Area Public School District is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for students to join the Elementary Orchestra Program! Whether your child is new to playing or continuing from last year, this program is designed to help students grow their musical talents, develop teamwork skills, and experience the joy of playing an instrument.
Why Join the Orchestra?
Starting in 5th grade, students can choose to learn one of four amazing string instruments:
🎻 Violin
🎻 Viola
🎻 Cello
🎻 BassWith a variety of instrument sizes available, we can accommodate every student, ensuring that they are comfortable and set up for success. Whether your child has prior experience or is trying an instrument for the first time, our instructors will guide them every step of the way.
How to Get Started
Joining the orchestra is easy! Follow these simple steps:
- Fill out the online enrollment form: Sign Up Here
- Get an instrument: Whether renting from Heid Music, using an instrument you already own, or borrowing from the school, we’ll help you find the right fit.
- Supplies: Each instrument requires basic supplies like rosin, a clean cloth for strings, and shoulder rests or endpin straps (depending on the instrument). Our teachers will provide detailed guidance on what's needed.
Why a Quality Instrument Matters
It’s important that students have a quality instrument to ensure a positive learning experience. We recommend purchasing or renting from trusted sources, like Shar Music. Please avoid purchasing instruments from online retailers like Amazon, as these can often lead to frustration due to poor quality. We also offer a limited number of school instruments for families in need of a low-cost option.
We look forward to welcoming your child to the Elementary Orchestra Program and embarking on this exciting musical journey together!
