  • How Does the High-Deductible Health Plan Work?

    Posted by:

With a High Deductible Health Plan, the employee must meet their portion of the annual deductible before the Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and insurance company starts paying benefits.  For an employee who is on a single plan, the employee is responsible for the first $1,350 per calendar year. An employee on a family plan is responsible for the first $2,700. Once these deductibles are met, the Health Reimbursement Arrangement (paid by the District) pays the remainder of the annual deductible.  To help meet the higher deductible, the employee may open a Health Savings Account (HSA) and make pre-tax contributions through payroll deductions.

  • What is a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)?

    Posted by:

This is the amount the District pays towards an employee’s annual deductible after the employee meets their portion of the deductible.  The HRA is administered by Diversified Benefit Services (DBS). Example:

    HDHP Single Plan:

The total annual deductible is $2,000

The employee is responsible for the first $1,350

The HRA pays the next $650

    HDHP Family Plan:

The total annual deductible is $4,000

The employee is responsible for the first $2,700

The HRA pays the next $1,300
