The Buildings and Grounds Department maintains the district's buildings, grounds, equipment, mechanical and electrical systems. This department provides timely, problem-free services to ensure the district's facilities and grounds continued operation in a safe, secure and healthful environment. The department's services enhance the appearance of the facilities, while being as cost effective as possible.
The primary objective of the department is to provide an acceptable environment in which the district can accomplish its mission.
The specific goals of the department -
- Extend the life and improve the capability of the facilities to perform at their maximum potential
- Reduce operating interruptions and equipment and structural failures
- Increase the productivity of operations and maintenance personnel
- Improve work methods and procedures
- Select the most cost effective methods of maintenance and operations
- Reduce and eliminate fire and safety hazards
- Improve and maintain the aesthetic qualities of the facilities and grounds
- Implement programs to conserve energy that comply with codes and regulations
The grounds crew is responsible for -
- Salting sidewalks and parking lots
- Grass cutting
- General care of the districts 370 acres
- Repairs of playground equipment
The maintenance crew is responsible for -
- Heating and cooling
- Building repairs
- Vehicle maintenance
The custodial staff is responsible for -
- Cleaning the 1,338,542 square feet of buildings
- Set up staging and chairs for concerts, graduations and special events
- Set up for athletic events
