Leadership Transition in Business Services

Dear Families, 

Following formal action by the Board of Education on Monday, April 14, 2025, we are pleased to announce that Mike Kurtz, Ed.D. has been appointed as the Director of Business Services, effective July 1, 2025.

Mike has been an extraordinary employee in every position he has served. Mike was hired in 1994 and has served in multiple capacities, from math teacher, social studies teacher, instructional leader, department head, coach, assistant principal, and is currently serving as the finance manager. His institutional knowledge, established relationships, proven performance, work ethic, and willingness to learn are just a few of his amazing attributes. We are confident that Mike’s experience and dedication will continue to positively impact our schools and community in his new role.

We also want to take a moment to recognize and thank Tom Owens for his leadership and unwavering dedication throughout his total 55 years of service to public education. Tom has been an advocate for education, a mentor to many, and a leader in school finance across the state. We are grateful for his contributions and wish him the very best in his retirement.

Please join us in congratulating Mike on his new role and in thanking Tom for his remarkable career and commitment to our district. We look forward to a smooth transition and continued excellence in our Business Services Department.
