SPAPSD Continues In the Digital Age Series with "Navigating the Digital Playground"

STEVENS POINT, WI — The Stevens Point Area Public School District invites all families and community members to the next event in the In the Digital Age series, Empowering Parents in the Digital Age: Navigating the Digital Playground. This session, taking place on Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00-7:00 p.m., will focus on digital safety, social media use, and bullying, highlighting data and strategies from our junior and senior high school students.

Session two aims to share how our schools are actively working to keep students safe, provide resources families can use to prevent bullying and support safe social media use, while also dedicating time to questions and support.

Event Details:

  • What: Empowering Parents in the Digital Age | Navigating the Digital Playground
  • When: Wednesday, October 15, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Where: SPASH Library, Stevens Point Area Senior High School
  • Cost: Free and open to the public (refreshments provided)

The Director of Secondary Education, Jeff Mlsna, and the Director of Technology, Brian Casey, will lead the discussion with data. They will be joined by School Resource Officers Jordan Nissen, Chi Yang, Kris Marchel, and Lt. Joe Johnson to provide community-level insights.

Navigating the Digital Playground will highlight what can be done, both at home and at school. Topics will cover current school initiatives, such as streamlining the reporting process for issues and maintaining cell phone policies to ensure productive learning spaces.
