Military Appreciation Night Hosted by SPASH Athletics and SPASH Football

STEVENS POINT, WI — Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) Athletic Department, in partnership with the SPASH Football program, will host Military Appreciation Night at the varsity football game on Friday, September 19, at Goerke Field. Military personnel will be invited on the field at 6:40 p.m. with the game beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Event Details:

• Free Admission: All current and former military members will receive free admission with a valid military ID at the east entrance of Goerke Field. Gates will open at 6:00.

• Pre-Game (Gridiron Tailgate Area): The Wisconsin National Guard will have a military vehicle and a pull-behind replica cannon on display.

• National Anthem: The Plover VFW Honor Guard and Rifle Squad will present the colors.

• Military Walkout: At 6:40 p.m., all military personnel who wish to participate are invited to gather in the south endzone to walk with the Honor Guard as they present the colors. Military in attendance who are not able to be on the field will be asked to stand and be recognized during the presentation of colors.

• In-Game Recognition/Events:

  • The Gridiron Club will be handing out American flags at their tent on the north end of the stadium near the Skyward Room.

  • “Fill the Helmet” Fundraiser with proceeds going to the Simmy Foundation

  • At halftime, the SPASH Athletic Department will share the Virtual Military Honor Wall on the jumbotron.

  • Photo Booth-Military in attendance can take a photo by the Gridiron Tent with the American Flag and “USA” Letters
