Money for Meals Continues to Help Ensure Students Have Access to School Meals

Stevens Point, WI - A school meal may seem like a small part of the day, but for students, it can make a meaningful difference in their ability to learn, focus and feel cared for.

Through the Stevens Point Area Public School District’s Money for Meals program, community members continue to step up to help students and families by contributing toward unpaid school meal balances. During the 2025–26 school year, donations to the program provided more than $8,000 in support for student meal accounts.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Mike Kurtz, director of business services. “Money for Meals is a simple but meaningful way people can directly support students and families in our schools. Every contribution helps ensure that students can come to the cafeteria knowing they will be able to eat and return to class ready to learn.”

The District extends its sincere thanks to the individuals, organizations and anonymous donors who supported the program this past year, including Peace United Church of Christ, St. Joseph Parish, Rosalie Simone, Gee Pope, The Power of $5, Noble Community Clinic, Rhonda Smorynski, Miriam Meeks, American Endowment Foundation, Vicky Jacoby, Barb Portzen, Tiffany Kania, Lynn Koresh, Carie Ligman, Karen Phillip, Debra Wallner, Gaye Miller, Betty Kitzerow and Justin Asquith.

Their generosity reflects the care and connection that make the Stevens Point community special.

The Money for Meals campaign will continue during the 2026–27 school year, and individuals, families, businesses and community organizations are invited to participate. Donations can be made through the District’s website at https://on.pointschools.net/moneyformeals or directly to the business office.
