SPAPSD Honors Bus Driver Lisa Pflugradt with Mandana Bliss Award

Stevens Point, Wis. – The Stevens Point Area Public School District proudly recognizes Lisa Pflugradt, a dedicated bus driver in the district’s Transportation Department, as the recipient of the November Mandana Bliss Award.

The Mandana Bliss Award symbolizes the district’s deep appreciation for the unwavering commitment and outstanding efforts of staff who exemplify Educational Excellence. The award honors Mandana Hale Bliss, Stevens Point’s first teacher and a trailblazer whose service and dedication continue to inspire the district today.

With 26 years of dedicated service, Lisa has become known as the Transportation Department’s “number one cheerleader.” She is recognized for her positive attitude, reliability, and the genuine care she shows each student every day.

“Every morning and afternoon, Lisa ensures our students travel safely, greeting each one with a smile and treating them as if they were her own,” said Transportation Manager Lee Nowicki, who nominated her for the award. “Her kindness, consistency, and quiet leadership make her an invaluable part of our team.”

In addition to her driving duties, Lisa serves as Service Coordinator for the Summer Bus Washing Program, ensuring the district’s fleet is cleaned, maintained, and ready for the school year. Her pride in her work and willingness to step in wherever needed have made her a model of teamwork and dedication.

“Lisa exemplifies excellence and the spirit of service that strengthens our schools and community,” said Superintendent Dr. Cory Hirsbrunner. “We are grateful for her continued commitment to our students and families.”

The Mandana Bliss Award is presented monthly to staff members who demonstrate extraordinary service, embodying the values of the Stevens Point Area Public School District.
