SPASH Boys and Girls Soccer Programs Earn National Academic Honors

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Stevens Point Area Senior High’s boys and girls soccer programs have once again earned national recognition for achievement in the classroom, receiving the United Soccer Coaches High School Team Academic Award for the 2025–26 academic year.

SPASH is one of just 29 schools nationwide to have both its boys and girls soccer programs recognized with the honor. United Soccer Coaches presented the award to teams that achieved a team grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the academic year. In total, 221 teams nationwide, 91 boys teams and 130 girls teams, earned the recognition.

The SPASH boys soccer team, coached by Bill Loss, finished the academic year with a 3.54 team GPA, earning a place among the 91 boys programs recognized nationally.

The SPASH girls soccer team, also coached by Loss, earned the honor with a 3.52 team GPA, joining 130 girls programs receiving national recognition.

The recognition reflects the commitment SPASH student-athletes bring not only to competition, but also to their work in the classroom.

“Our student athletes have once again demonstrated that success in the classroom and on the pitch is not mutually exclusive,” said Bill Loss, head coach for boys and girls soccer at SPASH. “Hard work, dedication, and perseverance are qualities that are reinforced daily and allow for success in any environment. It is an honor and privilege to work with so many fine student-athletes who represent our program, school and community with tremendous pride and dedication.”

United Soccer Coaches calculates team GPA by combining the GPAs of all players on a team and dividing that total by the number of players.

Congratulations to the student-athletes and coaches from both Panther soccer programs on continuing to represent SPASH with excellence in the classroom and on the field.
