Stevens Point Area Senior High Names New Head Pom and Dance Coach for Football and Basketball

STEVENS POINT, WIS. - SPASH is pleased to announce the hiring of Samantha Willms as the new Head Pom and Dance Coach for Football and Basketball.  

Samantha brings a wealth of knowledge with her background in various dances to the Pom and Dance programs.  

Coach Willms, “I am very excited to join the Stevens Point Area School District and the SPASH Athletic Program! I can’t wait to begin this new chapter and look forward to what the future holds with the team and program!”

SPASH Director of Co-Curricular Athletic & Activities Director, David Hauser, commented that “I am very excited to welcome Samantha  to the Stevens Point Area School District and the SPASH Athletic program.  She brings an incredible amount of energy and dance knowledge to our Pom and Dance program and the overall athletic program.” 

Coach Willms has been involved in dance since her early childhood and has experience in a variety of dance styles. She competed as both a studio and varsity high school dancer while also participating on a competitive studio team. With more than 10 years of dance instruction experience and previous coaching experience at the middle school level, Samantha is excited to return to coaching and share her passion for dance while leading the SPASH Pom & Dance program.

SPASH Pom & Dance Information

Students interested in trying out for the SPASH Pom & Dance Team should plan to attend the Parent & Dancer Informational Meeting on Monday, August 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the South Commons at SPASH, During the meeting, athletes and parents will meet the new head coach and coaching staff, learn about program expectations, receive an overview of the upcoming season, and review the tryout process. Additional information and updates will also be shared at the meeting.

Tentative Tryout Schedule

• Tuesday, August 11: 5:00–7:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, August 12: 5:00–7:30 p.m.

• Thursday, August 13: 5:00–7:30 p.m. (Final Day of Tryouts)

Tentative Practice Schedule

Regular practices are anticipated to be: 1st Practice will be August 17, 2026 at 5pm in the South commons at SPASH

• Mondays: 5:00–7:00/7:30 p.m.

• Tuesdays: 5:00–7:00/7:30 p.m.

• Fridays: 5:00–7:00/7:30 p.m.

Please note that all dates and times are tentative and subject to change. Any updates will be communicated by the coaching staff.
