NEWS RELEASE: Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) Announces the 2026 Fall Athletic Hall of Fame Class

Accomplishment(s)

State Champion in the hurdles and one of the premier track and field athletes in SPASH history. 

Former NFL offensive lineman for the New Orleans Saints and one of the most accomplished professional athletes to come from SPASH. 

2001 WIAA State Champion in discus, All-Conference football player, and outstanding multi-sport athlete. 

All-Conference performer in multiple sports, All-State baseball player, and collegiate athlete at the University of Michigan. 

Three-sport athlete, UPI First Team All-State offensive lineman, First Team All-Conference football player, Channel 7 All-Star, WFHR First Team All-Area selection, starter on a State Runner-Up football team, and participant in wrestling, track, and powerlifting. Continued his football career at Michigan Tech. 

All-State football player who set school records for rushing yards and touchdowns. Golden S Award recipient, fifth-place finisher at the WIAA State Track Meet in the 200 meters, member of a State Runner-Up track team, University of Illinois football scholarship recipient, and Sugar Bowl participant. 

All-State basketball player who continued his career at UW-Green Bay and later played professionally in Australia. 

All-Conference and All-State soccer player, holder of numerous swimming school records, and collegiate swimmer at UW-Green Bay. 

Gatorade Player of the Year in basketball who earned a scholarship to Bradley University and later attended the University of Wisconsin. 

Outstanding multi-sport athlete, All-Conference performer, school record holder in the shot put, and scholarship athlete at the University of Hawaii. 

Three-sport athlete who earned both All-Conference and All-State recognition during her outstanding SPASH career. 

Three-sport athlete, sixth-place finisher in the all-around competition at the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet, All-Conference and All-State performer, team captain, Marquette University soccer player, and class valedictorian. 

One of the most accomplished tennis players in school history, never losing a conference match during his four-year career. Multiple Valley Conference champion, state tournament qualifier, and scholarship athlete at UW-Green Bay. 

Outstanding performer in cross country and track and field who continued her athletic career at the University of Iowa. 

Two-time WIAA State Tennis Champion and exceptional multi-sport athlete. 

Longtime teacher, coach, and mentor who impacted countless SPASH student-athletes. Schell coached SPASH boys basketball to a second place finish at the 1982 state tournament and also coached  golf. 

Highly successful boys and girls swimming coach whose teams earned multiple conference championships during his tenure. 

Four-year letterwinner in swimming who set multiple school records and earned five individual Wisconsin Valley Conference titles. A four-time team MVP, she continued her success at the collegiate level with a distinguished career at Lawrence University.
