Stevens Point Public Schools to Host Community Event on Student Mental Health, Attendance and School Safety

Stevens Point, Wis.— Stevens Point Public Schools will host the first session in this year’s In the Digital Age series on Wednesday, September 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the SPASH Library.

The free community event, Connecting Safety & Support in the Digital Age: Supporting Student Mental Health and Attendance at School, will focus on the connection between regular school attendance, student achievement, positive behavior and overall student well-being.

District experts will share information about attendance and behavioral trends across the district, along with updates on school safety and efforts to help students remain present, engaged and supported at school.

The evening will also highlight community partnerships, mental health resources and care programs available to students and families.

“Supporting students takes all of us,” said Cory Hirsbrunner, superintendent. “This event is an opportunity for families to better understand the challenges students may be facing, learn about the supports available to them and hear how our schools and community partners are working together to help students be successful.”

The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session featuring district leaders and representatives from the Stevens Point Police Department.
