Weather Update and School Status
SPAPSD Staff and Families,
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area from midnight tonight until 6:00 PM Wednesday, with snow expected and wind gusts up to 45 mph. These conditions may cause blowing and drifting snow, significantly reduced visibility, and hazardous travel, particularly during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
At this time, schools are scheduled to remain open as planned, provided that road conditions allow for safe transportation. However, we recognize that travel may be difficult, and some bus delays are possible. Families can track their student’s bus using the My Stop App, available on Google Play or the Apple Store.
We will continue to monitor conditions overnight and early Wednesday morning. If worsening conditions impact bus operations or overall safety, an E-Learning day may be necessary. Any changes to the school schedule will be communicated as early as possible.
Families may choose to keep their student home due to weather concerns, and absences will be excused if reported to the school.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we prioritize student safety while maintaining learning opportunities. Please stay safe and monitor your email and district website for updates.
Sincerely,
Cory Hirsbrunner, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Stevens Point Area Public School District
